Update From the 2015 Award Winner

Our 2015 TRPP Innovation Award winner, Nic Voge, is making excellent progress with his project, Principedia.  We wish Nic continued success with this exciting venture and look forward to presenting a webinar with him early in 2016.

What is Principedia?
Principedia is a first of its kind crowd-sourced wiki-encyclopedia which collects, gathers and circulates information about learning methods and processes in one campus community.

Students reflect on and analyze how they were taught and tested and describe HOW they learned in a specific course.

Students work together to share effective strategies and techniques for learning.

Students post their descriptions and approaches on the Principedia wiki for all students, faculty and staff to access and use.

Here is the video about Principedia.

Principedia Hackathon, Spring 2015, Princeton University from Janet Temos on Vimeo.

"We are working closely with a faculty member who teaches organic chemistry on campus. I shared with him an analysis of his course and he was wowed. He sees possibilities for that analysis not only to be elaborated and shared with students, but to serve as the basis for training of the course Teaching Assistants. I’m also working on getting a link to Principedia from the registrar page so that it is easily accessible to students and advisers during course selection."

Nic Voge, Associate Director, McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning, Princeton University

  • Developed a rubric to measure outcomes based on Bloom’s Taxonomy
  • Provided faculty development for student success course teachers
"Martha and Sharon devoted an incredible amount of time and effort to help us clarify and achieve our curriculum goals. They showed deep commitment to a quality outcome, kept us moving forward and on task, and were able to listen to and respect the needs of our diverse audiences. It is clear that they care deeply about the work they do, and our students are lucky recipients. We hope to work with them again on other efforts."

Instituto del Progreso Latino
  • Developed a plan with this community-based organization for an innovative two-year technical college
  • Wrote and submitted an application for IBHE approval
  • Drafted  the College Catalog for this new initiative
"As part of Instituto’s strategic plan, the organization entered the early stages of creating a community college in 2014. With a focus on serving adults and non-traditional college students, the goal is to transform the approved vocational school that currently operates, into a college that offers Associate degrees in Applied Science (AAS) with a high concentration on industry-recognized certifications. A major step in this process is seeking approval from the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). Instituto contracted TRPP and Associates to provide guidance and assistance with the submission of our IBHE application. The TRPP Consultants designed a plan of action, and worked with Instituto staff at each stage of the process with a high level of efficiency and professionalism. Their guidance helped facilitate the creation of a high-quality application, which was submitted within the required time frame. Instituto and its staff are convinced that without the professional guidance and work from the TRPP Consultants, this project could not have been completed. Instituto highly recommends TRPP and Associates for any growing organization."
